Culture of community engagement and social responsibility key to Experian’s success
Costa Mesa, Calif., Dec. 5, 2014 — Experian®, the leading global information services company, today announced that it has been selected as one of the Orange County Register’s Top Workplaces based on employee feedback in a survey of hundreds of leading companies in Orange County.
“The award validates that what we’re doing is working. It validates that Experian employees enjoy coming to work and like how things are going,” said Craig Boundy, Chief Executive Officer, Experian North America. “When we’re successful with our efforts to create a positive work environment, that’s a big deal. It’s important because it has a positive impact on our employees, our clients and the Orange County community, which Experian has called home for more than 40 years.”
Experian has created a culture of engagement in the communities where it has offices and employees. The company does this by not only fostering relationships with local nonprofit organizations, but also by personally volunteering time and resources through its Heart of Experian community outreach program.
Last year, Experian employees spent more than 24,000 hours in volunteer time for its worldwide philanthropy partners, helping contribute $6.9 million. In North America, Experian employees raised more than $319,000 and volunteered 4,734 hours. Experian employees in the North America Headquarters in Costa Mesa, Calif., contributed to important local causes such as Children’s Hospital Orange County and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
Experian also established a social innovation program to identify and fund new products and services that help foster financial inclusion, promote financial education and support small-business entrepreneurs.
With this program, Experian encourages employees to submit funding applications for new products that deliver social benefits while generating commercial growth. This unique approach fosters innovation, a core part of Experian’s fabric. From the many strong proposals received, Experian chose seven for the latest year and invested nearly $700,000 in their development.
“There are a lot of reasons why people love working at Experian,” said Dayna Parker, Chief Human Resources Officer, Experian North America. “The primary reason is that we make strong contributions to society by creating great products and services, helping people and businesses to make informed and responsible decisions, and leveraging our market insights and community partnerships. These activities are unique to us. By aligning commercial and social goals in this way, we generate mutual benefits for our employees and the communities we serve.”
The Orange County Register published the complete list of Top Workplaces on Friday, Dec. 5. The Top Workplaces were determined based solely on employee feedback.
